Non-Invasive Ventilation Research Project

Description:

Lucy, who has MND, using non-invasive ventilation

MND can lead to difficulties with breathing due to increasing weakness of the respiratory muscles. Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is known to alleviate these symptoms and can prolong survival in people with MND.

However further research is needed to understand how people with MND decide whether or not to accept NIV, and how NIV impacts on both patient and carer as the disease continues to progress. These issues must be addressed to enable the development of good practice.

This project would cost £200,000 over three years.

If you, your company or trust were to make a major donation to this research project, we would happily discuss any wishes you might have as to what you would like the project to be named.
